The archaeological, ethnographic, and bibliographic materials restored by the Armenian specialists in recent years have been displayed at the Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran (the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts) in Yerevan. The aim of the exhibition entitled “Restoration in Armenia” is to show the rich cultural materials before and after restoration.
The employees of the “Monuments Preservation Department” of the “Protection Service” SNCO and the Historical Environment Preservation Regional Service (HEP) of Aragatsotn carried out monitoring of a number of endangered monuments in the territory of the region.
On October 21, 2022, from 10:00 to 18:00 the “Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reservations” SNCO invites you to take part in the international conference entitled “Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Armenian Highland” which will be held at “Metsamor” Historical and Archeological Museum-Reserve.
During the excavations carried out in the territory of “Lori Berd (Fortress)” Settlement” Historical and Cultural Reservation there have been revealed a lot of fragments of glazed bowls and plates were. The archaeological material dates back to the XI-XII cc. As stated by Arman Nalbandyan, head of the expedition, this wonderful pottery was found in a semi-circular niche in the territory adjacent to the wall of the fortress which probably was a structure of economic significance.
An exhibition entitled “Restoration in Armenia” will be held at the Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran (the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts) for the first time. The “Scientific Research Center of the Historical and Cultural Heritage”, “Erebuni” Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve, the History Museum of Armenia, the National Gallery of Armenia, the National Archives of Armenia, the “Protection Service” SNCO, and the Museums of the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin will take part in the exhibition. The “Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reservations” SNCO is preparing 15 items: part of a horse bridle, a dagger, pendants, a flabellum from the collection of “Gndevank”, a jar found in the territory of the “Metsamor” Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve by the Armenian-Polish expedition and other items kept in the “Archaeology” stock.
Within 9 months the total number of visitors to the reservations and museum-reservations of the “Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reservations” SNCO of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport was 557974 of which 124772 were out of charge.
In 2022, the government allocated about 236 million AMD for the study, repair, fixing, and restoration of a number of monuments of the Republic of Armenia. According to Harutyun Vanyan, Head of the History and Cultural Monuments Reservation Department of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, and Science of Armenia, about 400 million AMD are planned to be allocated in this field in 2023. The goal is to allocate up to 1 billion AMD for the fixing, preservation, and restoration of monuments in the coming years.
