On February 13, at 17:00, one of the important holidays of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Tyarnendarach (coming yet from the times of the Pagan Armenia and was called Trndez in those times) was celebrated in the historical and cultural “Garni” Museum-Reservation and in the “Lori Berd (Fortress) ”Settlement” historical and cultural Reservation.

According to the testimony of Stepanos Orbelian, the monastery was founded in 936 by the Throne Prince Smbat and (local) bishop. According to the historian, it was located above the village of Yeghegis, at the river, at the foot of the rocky mountains, on a plateau called Karevan.

Famous medieval monastic complex Noravanq is located in Historical Armenia’s Syuniq region’s Vayoc dzor province (now Vayoc dzor region). In the history of Armenia the political role of this province reached its pinnacle especially in 13-14th centuries. In Syuniq during the reign of Orbelyans architecture, art and science flourished. Famous medieval centers were formed, which are significant not only for that historical period but for the whole history of Armenia. Especially new churches, monasteries were founded in Noravanq, among which the most significant one is Noravanq.

One of the oldest settlements of the Shirak Marz is the village of Marmashen (Verin Ganlidzha), located on the left bank of the Akhuryan River of historical Shirak and gradually moved to the southeast. The village is located at an altitude of 1600m. above sea level. It finally established itself on the settlement of Tirashen which was devastated during the Mongol invasions. Sargis Jalalyants in his book “Journey to the Great Armenia” notes: “In the upper part of the village there is the Vagramashen fortress, on the hill there is a big bell, which was destroyed by the Agaratians.” The village is rich in historical and cultural monuments. During the Urartian period, during the expeditions undertaken to the north, the Fortress was reconstructed and strengthened.

Historical-architectural complex Aghdzk was built in the 4th century and is locatd in the village Aghdzk of Aragatsotn region. The complex includes the tomb of the Arshakid kings, church, monuments, fragments belonging to memorials and khachkars, the remains of auxiliary and other structures.
